Another great day in Washington

I can end my day again by saying...."wow, what a great day" and "that was soooo much fun". If you ever wonder why I love my work just take a look at the pictures of Lucy. Now these are not your normal senior pictures but they do show how much fun we have. I will post portraits later but for now I simply wanted to share our day!

It was so HOT but I really can not complain because it didn't rain. 86 degrees the last I checked. Lucy handled the heat well but I believe that is because of her athletic training. It was quite cute when it was 86 degrees and Lucy was putting on a wool winter coat with a fur collar. Oh my goodness she was a trooper and so willing to do......

Conrad says....."tell everyone hi for me"

Back to Lucy.... We had a great start this morning bopping around our beautiful town of Washington as the temps climbed. Lucy's mother was great in helping with the little details that I sometimes do not see.

Moms you have been awesome and very helpful!

I want to thank the people of Washington for working so hard to make our city beautiful. The new sidewalks, street lamps and black benches are wonderful. I use the environment so much I feel like I need to pay rent or something. I also want to thank Tim Widmer for his patience this morning. He was dragging a tree through the Kewash underpass as I was working with Lucy and he stopped and waited until we were done. This isn't the first time I interrupted Tim or one of his employees.

To end....what a great day and boy did I have fun!

THE APARTMENT.....Drish Photography's newest spot

We are very excited to announce...THE APARTMENT! This has been a project that we have working on for several weeks cleaning, cleaning and more cleaning. It all started last year when I took a senior up to an abandanded apartment that she use to live in as a little girl to take a few senior pictures. It was a great space with lots of natural lighting, arches, brick and french doors. One Saturday afternoon Angel Ponce, Haley Hammes and Amanda worked very hard hauling out trash down a flight of rickety steps, sweeping and cleaning windows. At the end of the day Amanda and Angel made a trip to the local True Value to choose a color to paint one wall. They chose an awesome color and were excited to start painting. So...thank you guys for helping achieve this dream and now next years seniors will have a unique spot.

THE APARTMENT in downtown Washington is an awesome addition to Drish Photography's country studio. The best of both worlds. Thank you Angel, Haley and Amanda for all your help and thank you Jerra, Jackie and again Angel for spending a little time to help me capture some great images.
Join me at "Linda Drish Facebook" to see more images.
My next project is updating the website with weddings, families and children.
Thank you for stopping by. Please feel free to leave comments.

The ANGE WALL. We found this tin in the apartment and Angel just tacked up a few pieces and wahlah.....it's a great backdrop.

A brick wall....a photographers dream!

I love the color chosen for this wall.

There is so much natural light...I love it.

Solid oak floors....wow.

Again.....the ANGEL WALL

Seniors....a few of my favorites.

Okay...so I am gonna say it! Hello world! We have been very busy here at the studio preparing for our Senior Xtravaganza on April 18 & 19 at Dodici's Shop in Washington. If you haven't heard about it and if you are a 2010 Senior and a parent we would love to have you join us. If you come you receive discounts on your senior pictures and if you need more information please send me an email.

In the next few days I will be uploading a few videos and also announcing my "secret". It is a project we have been working very hard on for our next year seniors and we are so excited to share it with you.

Now here's the mushie stuff. I am going to mention again that I love my work and I especially love my seniors. I am not only taking their pictures but am also experiencing a little bit of their lives. We normally spend about three hours venturing in and out of the alleys in Washington and Iowa City, the parks, ponds and farms. I have the honor of getting to know them and trying to capture their unique personalities. They are all great!!!!! There has been a few seniors that just keep coming back for tea. My home and facebook has become a place where we meet and chat about pictures and life. In the next few days I will be sharing my secret and sharing a little bit about a few relationships and the fun we have experienced.

I am sharing a video with you that has LOTS of pictures of 09 SENIORS and just a few others from the last couple of years. I hope you enjoy viewing.

SENIORS.....thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to take your pictures and getting to know you! It has been a wonderful year and you have given me some great memories. To Chad...I think your session was the most memorable in Iowa City. It was RUSH week but mostly the memory of the gentleman under the stairway that gave you his cowboy hat to KEEP was the best. Again, to all of you thank you! You have been awesome.

My best wishes as you end your senior year and venture into the college world. I'll end this post with...

"Go confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you have imagined." Henry David Thoureau

And...God Bless You.

You've been DRISHED!

This afternoon Amanda and I traveled to Iowa City to enjoy a cup of coffee at the downtown Java House and to meet some friends for a fun afternoon. It was such a beautiful day so drank our coffee sitting outside along the curve while watching people pass by.
Cameras in hand we ventured to our favorite wonderland wall and then the alleys. These girls were so much fun to photograph! Kristi was a graduate of Iowa City West last year and I had the honor of taking her Senior Pictures. Jenna and Nichole were two of my seniors this year and Whitney will be a senior next year. These girls have been friends for several years and are four time state champions in track!!!!!!
I was thrilled when Krist and Whitney brought their parents Karen and Steve! I think they really enjoyed watching the process and were thrilled when we asked them to join in. You'll see some of the fun we had in the pictures below. We took a little time to take a nice family portrait and a nice portrait of Whitney.
When we were finished we ventured back to the Java House and sat down to review the pictures. Kristi said to Whitney....."YOU HAVE BEEN DRISHED".
I will post more pictures in the days to come.

Molly....You Rock!

Today I am highlighting Molly from Mid Prairie High School! Molly is an awesome athlete and an amazing young woman. I am always thankful when a Junior contacts me early to take their SENIOR PICTURES! In Molly's case I was honored and thrilled at the same time!

A couple of years ago I photographed Molly's sister. When I have returning customers that tells me I might be doing something right.

Have I mentioned lately... THAT I LOVE MY WORK!

Thank you Molly! Your SENIOR EXPERIENCE was one to remember!

Don't forget to join me on Linda Drish Facebook to see lots of SENIOR samples.

Thank you Iowa City

Iowa City SENIORS and your parents....you have been awesome!
The young man in the above video is Chad! We started the session at the ICW football field before venturing into the downtown alleys! It was an eventful morning with some pretty neat memories. In one of the images you will notice Chad wearing a cowboy hat! This hat is not Chad's but belonged to a man sitting under a stairway enjoying his life and enjoying watching me climb up an down the fire escapes photographing Chad. The gentleman took off his hat and gave it to Chad not only to wear for pictures but to take home! This was one of those moments where you really had to be there to appreciate it.
Anyway...thank you Chad, the man under the stairs and all DRISH SENIORS from Iowa City.
Linda
